Frequently asked questions
What is X·Sim?
X·Sim is a browser-based patient monitor and defibrillator training simulator for EMS, paramedic, nursing, and ACLS education. It simulates 27+ ECG rhythms, defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing with capture thresholds, 12-lead ECGs, and live instructor-led classes. It's a training tool — not a medical device.
Is X·Sim free for students?
Yes — solo monitor practice and the timed rhythm quiz are free with no account or download. Instructor features (live multi-student sessions, attendance, auto-scoring, saved cases, debrief reports) are part of Instructor Pro ($29/mo) or Organization plans, with a free trial.
Does it work on iPad and Chromebook?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser with nothing to install — iPads, Chromebooks, laptops. Landscape on a tablet or a desktop screen is the best monitor experience.
How do live instructor-led sessions work?
Open a classroom from the console and share a room code. Each student joins in their own browser and gets their own interactive monitor. You drive the patient — or let saved cases run themselves with timed deteriorations and treatment-triggered transitions — while every student action is logged by name for scoring and debrief.
Which rhythms and skills are included?
Sinus variants, AFib/flutter, SVT, all AV blocks, junctional rhythms, PVCs, VT, VF, torsades, idioventricular, paced rhythms, asystole, and STEMI patterns on 12-lead. Skills: defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, transcutaneous pacing with realistic capture, NIBP, 12-lead acquisition, CPR feedback, and treatment logging.
Is X·Sim a medical device?
No. Education and training only — never for real patient care. Not affiliated with ZOLL Medical Corporation or any device manufacturer. Clinical practice follows current AHA/ERC guidance and your medical direction.
